Spreading the Love: One Bowl of Mac & Cheese at a Time

If you've spent any time in Round Lake Area Schools District 116, chances are you've heard of Latasha Roberson, or at least her legendary mac & cheese. As OrganicLife's Catering Director and Traveling Manager, Latasha wears more hats than most. She oversees all catering for the district, serves as production manager at the high school and rotates among schools to support teams and students wherever she's needed. She does it all with an infectious smile that makes every cafeteria feel a little brighter.

But let's talk about the mac & cheese. It's become a full-blown phenomenon. Because Latasha splits her time across schools, students never know when her famous dish will appear on the menu, making it even more exciting when it does. "I can't walk through the school hallways anymore without students asking if my mac & cheese will be on the menu," Latasha laughs. And the fame doesn't stop at school. Living in the district, she's regularly recognized in grocery stores and restaurants by students and parents alike as "the mac and cheese lady."

What makes Latasha truly special, though, goes beyond one standout dish. She loves encouraging students to try something new, especially vegetables. And it's working. The amount of steamed vegetables prepared each day has nearly tripled, thanks to students discovering they actually love their veggies. For Latasha, that's a win worth celebrating.

At the end of the day, what Latasha enjoys most is, as she puts it, "spreading the love everywhere." And just in case you're wondering, yes, she has been known to share her magical mac & cheese recipe. Lucky us.
